Our Favorite bakery in San Diego. It's the place to go when you need a cake for special occasions. The fresh fruit tarts look & taste amazing. They have BEST croissants in the world!!!!

Greatest place for satisfying your sweet tooth.

It is a great place, awesome food, very good prices........the food is super delicious. The girls at the front are very professional and wonderful.I had a Cajun Tuna sandwish for only $7...it came with salad and amazing dressing and very tasteful bread.I love Carlsbad and I love the French cafe.

Nice place. The girl who gave me my croissant said you are welcome after i said thank you and seem very happy to help me. The other girl who charged me for it gave me my change rudely and didn’t even say thank you or anything.. i felt unwelcome by her.Saturday at 12 pm

The chocolate birthday cake tasted dry and didn’t seem like it was made on the same day. No more cake ordering from this location for my family.

The food was k but the service was not that good. I had to get up 3 times from my table to ask for things. Waitress kept going behind counter and just standing there talking to other employees. I love their cakes and I'll keep going for that but not to go and eat.

Great almond croissants - if you don't get there early they will likely be sold out. Black forest ham breakfast sandwich is good too, as is most of their bakery.

So today I purchase a $30 chocolate cake round and to our surprise we found a few human hairs when we started cutting it and began to eat it. Not happy at all, as we bought the cake to eat, not a very pleasant experience I would not recommend this place base on this bad experience.

I love the french-style atmosphere here. My favorite has to be the eggs benedict! I came here from an hour away. and it was worth it!

Been buying Cakes 15 years plus here. Service is in the gutter. I ordered a cake on a Friday to be picked up on a Sunday at noon. Staff tells me pick up is at 2 pm. I can work with that. I asked for Chocolate ganache on top they said that's extra. Completely fine with it. It will be ready at 2 pm Sunday. So I'm gonna show up pay for it and leave. To my surprise on Sunday I show up at 1:50 to pay for the Cake and they haven't even started it. I had even called ahead to make sure it was gonna be ready at 2. They said yes. Anyway a guy comes out the back telling me my Cake won't be ready for another hour. Cuse of this and that. I asked him why did they tell me it was gonna be ready at 2pm!!!!!! I ordered the cake 2 days ahead!!! So that's your fault not mine. If you are understaffed hire help for the weekends if your busy! Finally I just told him to get me a regular cake because I cannot wait another hour for Chocolate ganache. They need to be more professional and staff accordingly.

Oh my..try to control yourself. I was unsuccessful. It was so delicious and I got a fresh loaf of sliced sourdough for my friend. Her husband loved it and now she will drive from Encinitas for more. No wonder it sells out early....

Pastries are amazing and have been for the last 15 years staff needs more training I think that they have a lot of new employees

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots! The food is great, the pastries are beautiful and the service is warm and friendly. It's hard to find that combination unfortunately.

Crepes are perfect! Desserts are outstanding. No wonder this family owned business has lasted through good times and bad.

I get all of my Birthday cakes from here. I've been going here for years they have always made our birthdays that much better.

I went this morning at 9:45 AM to have breakfast. I sat at my table for 15 minutes, the waitress saw me there and didn’t acknowledge my presence at all. She didn’t say: I’ll be with you shorty or, would you like a cup of coffee? Here is a menu, nothing.. By 10:00 AMI got up and left and none of the employees said a word to me at all. A friend recommended this place to me and I will never set foot in there again and I will advice my friend of my experience. I give it one star because there isn’t a lower rating.Pure garbage.So much for “French Sophistication” They should hire real professionals and not airheads for waitresses.

I've been coming here for over 10 years strictly for cakes! They are always consistent with their delicious flavors. They also have pastries that are a must try! I don't think I've ever eaten there but I probably should. Highly recommend trying this place out if you haven't already. Family owned and friendly staff!

I absolutely loved my croissant and coffee! Coming here was a last minute stop, but so glad I did! The croissant was so flaky and soft! One of the best croissants I've ever had!

Nice neighborhood French pantry shop they also serve breakfast and lunch. Nice pastry n cakes. They play jazz. Outside sitting too. Great for a small place tucked in the corner by True Value Hardware.

Food is excellent and service is great. Bread is the best. Pastries to die for. Place could use some touch up.

We came for the crepes but the kitchen had already closed. We were extremely impressed with the pastries we ordered and the creme brulee was amazing!

Disappointing. I make a point of looking for croissants when we travel. This place actually made me think I should stop doing that. My husband said the croissant as akin to Costco's. Not horrible, just not a flaky, buttery croissant. More like bread. He also wondered if it was a day old.Their cakes are beautiful. Maybe we should have tried one of those.Also, I would have to echo other's sentiments of the customer service being disappointing. We tried to engage the girl behind the counter in polite conversation but she clearly was not interested, she didn't even respond. They did not hand our bags to us, just set them on the counter. One was on the very edge of the counter, the side farthest away from me. I actually said 'could you please hand me the bag?' but was ignored. I said 'I guess I'll just reach across and take it...' and again, was ignored, the two women were too busy talking to each other.Not horrible, just, meh...

We picked up a handful of desserts for a little gathering we were having. Items were not cheap, but they were pretty good. They have a great selection though. There’s a small dining area. Coffee, crepes, and sandwiches too.

Definitely a family friendly place to grab a bite to eat... Fell in love with their banana nutella crepes.. Their cakes look Damn good too.

My favorite french pastry cafe! Best ever

We ordered the cake for our anniversary with whipped cream and the raspberries on the top, we chose banana and pineapple filling. And we got more than expected from this: the cake was so delicious. We really have been surprised with its delicate and soft taste. I recommend this cafe! Merci beaucoup!

AMAZING chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and big strawberries inside... topped off with chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate shavings!!! They wrote HAPPY BIRTHDAY beautifully on a large oval piece of white chocolate. YUMMY - everyone was so impressed!!! I will be getting my cakes from French Pasty Cafe from now on! Oh yeh, the price is great too!

Good variety of desserts. Had an almond horn which was ok but the pumpkin cheese cake was delicious, also the latte was well made!

As always fresh and delicious.

The French Pastry Cafe made exquisite three tiered cakes for both our 30th and 50th Wedding Anniversaries! And we had a lovely 12 inch Grooms Cake made as well. We love Paris and all things done as only the French do to perfection! When we can’t get to Paris, what do we do? Go to the French Pastry Cafe, of course!
